The GoogleOS

Now alot of people have already aired their two cents about this up and coming contender to the market share of the netbooks. Well; I figured I should take a crack at it too.

The “Google Chrome OS” is going to be Open sourced, Lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks.

Later this year their Open-Sourcing their code, and the operating system will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.

The Google reason for open sourcing their code is “We wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve” with a lightweight, simple OS; separate from android (Based on the Linux kernel) that just works.

This in my mind is Brilliant. Open sourcing something as big as an operating system released by Google will defiantly get the community of (Or at least) the Linux using Google crowd into developing for the new Operating system.

According to their blog post “All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies.”

I’m looking forward to what they use to make this a reality. Because they aim at having web-based applications made for Google OS work on all operating systems (Linux, Mac, Windows whatever;) I could feel this pointing to Adobe Air and the apps made for that (E.g. TweetDeck).

“We hear a lot from our users and their message is clear — Computers need to get better. People want to get their email instantly, without wasting time for their computers to boot and browsers to start up. They want their computers to always run as fast as when they first brought them. They want their data to be accessible to them wherever they are and not have to worry about losing their computer or forgetting to back up files.”

Look out Microsoft! (Netbook versions of other distrubtions of Linux even!)
Look’s Like Googles really gonna pull this one off!
